WHAT IS TRUNK JUNK? A BIRD? A PLANE?
Trunk Junk is a bit of a funny one really. The honest truth is that we don’t really know what we are. We guess you could call us a magazine, or some sort of ‘book of inspiration’. The pure aim of Trunk Junk is to inspire both the creative and free world evolving around the boardsports industry. We cover things like surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, art, music, photography and even film. The publication is released ‘quarterly’ so to speak, but really it’s just an excuse to give us more time to work it.
TJQ is headed by the creative Brandon Els and the unstoppable Jonathan Boonzaaier, who together wish nothing more than to run a successful magazine publication, which can be loved and cherished by everyone who takes one home. The team is always welcoming new friends and supporters, so if you're ever near by, feel free to pop by and say whatsup, or just send us through an email. If we're not in the office, we're probably out skating, surfing, washing cars or eating spinach.
When was Trunk Junk born?
We started working on our first issue in March 2010. It’s been almost a full time gig since then...
Why did you start it?
Well definitely not for the money. The bloody thing makes us jack shit...Haha.
Nah, we did it purely based on making something of ourselves. We’ve both always been the type to hold back, so we thought why not finally give something a decent go, and see how flows...
Do you guys find people to feature, or do people find you?
Definitely a bit of both. A lot of the time we will have quite a good idea of who we want to feature, but every now and again we do get emails from both riders and artists submitting their work for review. We’ll be taking in a lot more in the issues to come, so if you’re reading this, and think you have what it takes to make our pages, seriously email us like right now!
Does Trunk Junk offer advertising?
Yep! We sure do. However, we are very selective as to what brands are represented. As we said, it's never been about the money, and we're only really interested in portraying high quality well established brands.
Why is the mag so expensive?
Well it's not really. Not after seeing what you get...If anything, we're undercharging you by about the same price you're paying for it! Trust us when we say it's well worth the extra couple $$$!
